Americans Earn a Point in Overtime Loss

Independence, MO - The Allen Americans (41-17-4-2) picked up a point on Wednesday night, in a 3- 2 overtime loss to the Missouri Mavericks.

Allen erased a 2-0 first period Missouri lead tying the game with two shorthanded goals. Wade Macleod netted his third of the season late in the opening frame and then Joel Chouinard tied the score with a shorthanded goal in the third period, his 10th of the season.

The game remained tied into overtime with the Americans killing off the remainder of a five- minute major handed out to David Makowski late in the third frame. Makowski was ejected for abuse of officials after a cross-checking penalty. Alex Brooks scored at 2:49 of the extra session to give Missouri the win and the two points.

Allen outshot Missouri 35-28 for the game. Riley Gill took the loss stopping 25 of 28 shots. The Americans return home this weekend for two games against the Tulsa Oilers at 7:05 PM. Tickets are on sale at www.ticketmaster.com or call 972-912-1000.
