
Frostbite name general manager

Glens Falls, NY â The Adirondack Frostbite, proud member of the United Hockey League (UHL), announced today they have hired Damon Markiewicz as their general manager for the 2004-05 season.
Markiewicz spent the 2003-04 campaign with the National Hockey League's Phoenix Coyotes where he served as their Web Editorial Director. In his role with the Coyotes, Markiewicz worked with the Coyotes hockey and media relations department providing daily content for the club's official web site, PhoenixCoyotes.com. Markiewicz also was responsible for all marketing efforts pertaining to PhoenixCoyotes.com, including corporate sales and ticket sales. Markiewicz helped the Coyotes earn the reputation of having one of the top web sites in the NHL.
"We're excited to have Damon join our staff for the Frostbite's inaugural season," said Frostbite President Glenn Morelli. "We believe Damon's experience will only strengthen our marketing efforts as we continue our momentum towards opening night."
Before joining the Coyotes, Markiewicz worked with the American Hockey League's Springfield Falcons serving as their Manager of Media Relations/Internet Services and Corporate Sales Executive from 2000-2003. Markiewicz, who is a native of Springfield, MA, was responsible for all media requests pertaining to the Falcons, as well as overseeing all marketing efforts in regards to the Falcons official web site, Falconsahl.com. Markiewicz also worked within the Falcons season ticket and group sales departments.
"I am extremely excited to be a member of such a strong team in the Adirondack Frostbite and to be involved in a community enriched with hockey tradition," said Markiewicz. "This is truly an exciting time to be a member of this organization. With a strong new ownership, a new logo and the excitement of hosting the United Hockey League's All-Star Game, we are on the verge of producing a very memorable season. I look forward to the challenges that lie ahead and I am sure this will be a season to remember."
Markiewicz comes to the Frostbite with eight years of Sports Marketing experience. He started his career in hockey with the Falcons in 1996 where he was a member of the team's game night operations staff for three seasons. In the spring of 1999, Markiewicz was promoted to the Falcons Assistant Manager of Media Relations and Internet Services.
Markiewicz received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from Westfield State College in the spring of 1999 and also earned an Associates Degree in Communications from Holyoke Community College in 1997. Season tickets for the 2004-05 season are on sale now at the Frostbite front office located at the Glen Street entrance of the Glens Falls Civic Center. Tickets may be purchased at the office from 9AM to 6PM Monday through Thursday and from 9AM to 5PM Friday or by calling 926-PUCK. Also, UHL All-Star Classic Tickets are on sale to season ticket holders now at the Frostbite office or by calling 926-PUCK. Individual game tickets and All-Star tickets go on sale to the public Saturday at 10am. The Frostbite's training camp continues all this week with practices open to the public beginning at 10AM.
