Kingston Frontenacs News Release
The Kingston Frontenacs are pleased to announce that they have acquired highly coveted forward Ryan Spooner from the Peterborough Petes, along with defenceman Jeff Braithwaite in exchange for centreman Alan Quine, defenceman Clark Seymour, a second round selection in 2011 and a conditional second round in 2013.
Both Spooner and Braithwaite are playing in the third OHL season, while Quine and Seymour are sophomores in the League.
"This is a great trade for our organisation," said Director of Hockey Operations and General Manager Larry Mavety. "We are adding a player in Spooner who is one of the top players in the Ontario Hockey League, along with a solid left handed shooting defenceman in Braithwaite. The fact that we had only one left shot on the back end (Cajkovsky), gives us more balance," he added.
"To get these two players we obviously had to give up something," said Mavety. "We wish both of both of the best with their careers."
Spooner was the Petes first round selection in the 2008 OHL Priority Selection, 5th overall and was the second round selection of the Boston Bruins this past July's NHL's Entry Draft, chosen 45th.
He was also the last player released by the Bruins from their training camp this past September.
The 5'10" 175 pound forward was the Petes leading scorer with 10 goals and 19 points in 14 games.
Braithwaite, the Petes second round selection, 25th overall in 2008 OHL Priority selection, has appeared in 11 games this season with 3 assists.
