Frisco RoughRiders News Release

The Frisco RoughRiders (26-13) won their third straight game in Midland Thursday night as they defeated the Rockhounds (21-19) by a score of 16-9. After falling in the series opener, the ‘Riders closed out the series with three straight wins against Midland.

Both teams wasted no time getting on the scoreboard as the ‘Riders held a 5-2 advantage after just one inning of play. Chris Davis hit a two run double and Steve Murphy slugged a two run home run in the frame for Frisco. Jesus Guzman had a two run single for the Rockhounds.

Frisco starter Michael Ballard (3-2) worked through five innings allowing only the two runs in the first. Ballard scattered seven hits while walking a pair and striking out two.

The ‘Riders offense supplied ample support for Ballard as they chased Midland starter Ryan Webb (2-2) after six innings. Webb permitted seven runs on 11 hits while striking out four and walking two.

After Frisco added two more runs in the fifth inning, the game got interesting late as the teams combined to score 16 runs over the final three innings. The ‘Riders scored four times in the top of the seventh to push its lead to 11-2, but Midland countered with a six run inning in the bottom half of the frame to cut the Frisco lead to three at 11-8.

Ben Harrison put the game out of reach for Midland when he hit a grand slam in the top of the eighth to put the ‘Riders ahead 16-8. The home run was Harrison's seventh of the campaign.

The RoughRiders next return home for a five game set with the San Antonio Missions beginning Friday night at 7 p.m.
