Frisco Holds On, Wins 6-5

The RoughRiders snapped their three-game losing streak Sunday night from Dr Pepper Ballpark with a 6-5 win over the first place San Antonio Missions .

Jose Ruiz's RBI groundout in the first inning gave Frisco an early 1-0 lead.

Frisco tacked on a run in the second and three in the third to take a 5-0 lead, highlighted by Renny Osuna's third inning RBI single that tied him with Steve Murphyas the all-time hits leader in RoughRiders' history (319).

Pimentel put in one of his best starts of the season as he struck out a career-high nine batters and gave up just two hits over six scoreless. He is now 5-8 on the season with the win.

Jose Felix scored in the sixth after stealing second and advancing all the way home on two throwing errors by the Missions defense.

Trailing by six runs, San Antonio made things interesting late by scoring four runs in the seventh and another in the eighth. Andy Parrino and Nick Hundley each drove in a run before Sawyer Carroll's two-run single made it 6-4 Frisco after seven.

In the eighth, Jedd Gyorko scored an unearned run on Tommy Mendonca's throwing error to home plate with Gyorko stuck in a rundown.

Tyler Tufts earned his fifth save of the season after pitching the final two innings.

The San Diego Padres No. 1 prospect, Casey Kelly struggled with his command, walking three and hitting two batters - one with the bases loaded. In five innings of work, Kelly was tagged for five runs on seven hits and is now 10-5 on the season after the loss.

The 'Riders will look to earn a series split Monday night from Dr Pepper Ballpark whenDerek Hankins makes his first Double-A start of the season and faces off against former RoughRider Robbie Erlin (5-2, 3.96). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05.
