Frisco Fighters News Release
After the Fighters' inaugural season came to an abrupt halt, the team is hungry to compete.
A year later, we finally have a season and coach Clint Dolezel is ready to go. "It was very disappointing," said Dolezel. "We were ready to go that night and got the call three hours before the game that we were shut down. The guys that worked so hard for two weeks to not get out there and show what they had... it was disappointing."
This year there is something to prove.
Athletes are moving from across the country, ready to claim a spot on the 30-man roster. Traveling from 20 different states, the first stop is physical testing by Prime Choice Family Clinic & Urgent Care. Once cleared, it's time to get in shape for the season.
After 13 seasons of playing football and coaching football, Dolezel is just as excited to get back on the field, "I was especially excited to get back at it," said Dolezel. "I'm anxious to see the guys we brought back from last year, to see what progress they made in those two weeks of camp last year, and I'm excited to see the talent we've brought in this year." 13 players are returning from last season's 25-man roster.
This is more than just a regular season of football - this is a grasp at normalcy, an opportunity to compete on National Television, and a chance to set the tone for the Frisco Fighters in the actual inaugural season.
The seatbelt sign is on, and we are prepared for takeoff.
