Frisco Fighters Bombshells to Deliver Easter Cheer to Local Senior Care Residents
April 7, 2020 - Indoor Football League (IFL) - Frisco Fighters News Release
FRISCO, TX, - The Frisco Fighters organization continues to serve the Frisco community through the COVID-19 pandemic. Upon its season opener being postponed on March 12, the team put out the word that it's here to help any local groups looking to serve the community. And the message was heeded in a big way, as Fighters players packaged, distributed, and served more than 1,000 meals in March in conjunction with local non-profits and other service organizations.
Now the Fighters dance team, the Frisco Fighters Bombshells, is ready to do its part in bringing smiles to the faces of Frisco residents.
The Bombshells will be appearing at the Victoria Gardens of Frisco at 10:00 am on Thursday, April 9, to deliver Easter cheer to the residents, none of whom have not been able to have visitors recently due to the pandemic.
"The residents have not had visitors, volunteers, or group activities, and they are desperate for some excitement," said Valerie Poloche, Wellness and Life Enrichment Director at Victoria Gardens of Frisco. "When I heard the Frisco Fighters radio commercial while driving to work, I had to reach out right away. Activities are more than entertainment. It is about having something to look forward to, keeping sleep schedules regular, getting people to exercise, making them feel helpful, minimizing depression and giving purpose.
"This performance will be about more than the few minutes of watching the dancers. The residents are going to love it. I can say that with confidence because they are already excited about making posters to hold through the windows. The families are also excited when they've been told on the phone that this is happening. They've been worried about their loved ones that they cannot visit and feel reassured that they are still able to participate in something like this."
Victoria Gardens of Frisco has been serving the Frisco community for the past 20 years. The more than 50 senior care residents will enjoy the show from inside the facility while the Bombshells offer four different outdoor performances at various locations on the grounds so that residents of each wing are able to enjoy the show.
"This is the type of community outreach we envisioned when we offered our help to the Frisco community," said Stephen Evans, President and General Manager of the Frisco Fighters. "Our goal is to always make people happy and put smiles on people's faces, whether that's as we play our games in Comerica Center or we engage with our neighbors. Being able to feature our Bombshells dance team in such a unique way makes this opportunity even more special."
Victoria Gardens of Frisco is located at 10700 Rolater Road in Frisco.
The Fighters remain eager assist any North Texas organization by serving the community during this time of need. Frisco Fighters players and dancers can be made available to any company or organization planning a community outreach initiative or any other situation where our team can be of assistance.
