
Frisco Delivers in Extra Innings, 4-3

fter giving up an early lead, the RoughRiders tied the game in eighth inning en route to an extra-inning win, 4-3, in the 10th frame over Springfield Thursday. With two outs and the bases loaded, Adam Fox delivered with an RBI single to score Mitch Moreland and give Frisco the victory.
The RoughRiders jumped out to an early 1-0 advantage when Moreland hit his third home run of the season with Frisco in the first inning. The âRiders made it 2-0 in the fifth frame when Renny Osuna scored on a wild pitch. Springfield scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth to take a one-run lead, but Frisco would tied the score at three when Manny Pina hit his seventh home run of the season in eighth inning to send the game to extras. In the tenth inning, the first three RoughRiders reached base as Moreland reach on an error, Justin Smoak doubled, and Tim Smith was intentionally walked. However, the Cardinals would strike out the next two batters to bring pinch-hitter Adam Fox to the plate, who delivered with an RBI single to give Frisco the 4-3 lead.
Frisco starter Michael Kirkman allowed three runs (one earned) in 4.2 innings of work, striking out three in his first start off the DL. Brennan Garr (2-2) earned the victory out of the bullpen as Beau Vaughan notched his third save. Brandon Dickson (5-5) took the loss for Springfield in relief, allowing two runs in 4.2 innings.
The RoughRiders collected seven hits, including three extra-base hits. Moreland scored two of the team's four runs and Smoak reached base four times with a double and three walks.
Game two of this three-game set is Friday in Springfield as Frisco will go for their third consecutive win.
