
Friday Rewind: Taking a Look at Last Night's Eight Games in the USHL

Omaha 3, Youngstown 2 shootout
Omaha battled back from a 2-1 second-period deficit in claiming a 3-2 shootout win at Youngstown Friday.
The Lancers, who now have won three games in a row, struck first when Gabe Kenne scored at 3:28 of the second, but goals from Ryan Botterill at 8:39 and Adam Pietila at 12:26 gave the host Phantoms a one-goal lead after 40 minutes of play.
Cameron VanSickle's power play goal at 13:27 of the third tied it and sent the game into overtime.
Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the extra session, forcing a six-round shootout in which Omaha's Jason Stupka was the lone shooter to score.
Not including six shots in the shootout, Omaha's Mikhail Yegorov finished with 28 saves in the game. Colin Winn had 26 stops for Youngstown.
Chicago 4, Sioux Falls 3 overtime
Michael Hage's overtime goal helped lift Chicago to a 4-3 home win over Sioux Falls Friday.
The Stampede, who led twice in the game, sandwiched goals from Tyler Borgula and Jaksen Panzer around a Hage goal in the first period and led 2-1 at the end of the first 20 minutes of play.
The Steel knotted the score at 2-2 when Joey DelGreco scored at 1:15 of the second, but after Beckett Hendrickson tallied at 10:50, it was a 3-2 Sioux Falls lead at the end of 40 minutes of action.
Chicago tied it on a Mick Thompson goal at 7:13 of the third.
Hage, who finished with three points in the game on two goals and an assist, ended it when he made a strong move to the net and went far side at 0:39 of overtime.
Chicago, which received a three-assist effort from Charlie Major in the game, got 28 saves from Christian Manz. Caleb Heil had 22 stops for the Stampede.
Fargo 9, Des Moines 0
League-leading Fargo extended its winning streak to seven games with a 9-0 home win over Des Moines Friday night.
Veteran netminder Anton Castro stopped 24 shots in the game in earning his second shutout of the season and the fourth shutout of his career.
Fargo defenseman Leo Gruba had a three-point game on two goals and an assist and now has 12-19- 31 on the season as the top-scoring blueliner in the USHL. Michael La Starza also scored twice and added an assist for the Force who upped their record to 26-3-1-0 with the win.
Fargo, which outshot Des Moines by a 54-24 margin in the contest, also received goals from Masun Fleece, Lee Parks, Jake Fisher, Harper Benz and Mac Swanson. Fisher and Swanson also chipped in with a pair of assists each in the victory.
Cedar Rapids 4, Green Bay 3
Cedar Rapids got goals from four different players in skating to a 4-3 win at Green Bay Friday.
The host Gamblers scored first when Ben Poitras tallied at 1:11 of the opening period, but after Ryan O'Connell and Hans-Martin Ulvebne scored at 9:26 and 17:25, respectively, it was Cedar Rapids 2, Green Bay 1 at the end of the first.
Michael DeAngelo's 11th goal of the season made it 2-2 at 1:02 of the second, but Isaac Johnson and Elliott Groenewold scored three minutes apart midway through the period and the RoughRiders led 4-2 after two.
Poitras scored his second goal of the game at 14:08 of the third, but Cedar Rapids was able to hold on the rest of the way.
Rudy Guimond stopped 26 shots to get the win for the RoughRiders. Gavin Moffatt had 22 saves for the Gamblers.
The win is the 776th career victory for Cedar Rapids head coach Mark Carlson as he continues to close in on PK O'Handley's league record of 783 career wins.
Waterloo 4, Lincoln 3
Waterloo and Lincoln traded leads throughout the first two periods of Friday's matchup in Lincoln before Black Hawks' forward Grady Deering got the deciding goal when he scored shorthanded in the third.
Waterloo, which had now won four games in a row, scored twice in the first period on goals from Gavin Lindberg and Myle Hilman, but Lincoln matched that output with Keaton Peters and Blake Montgomery replying for the Stars as the game stood 2-2 after the opening 20 minutes of action.
Hilman, who also had an assist on Lindberg's goal, scored his second of the game at 7:19 of the second to make it 3-2 Waterloo, but German Yavash responded for the Stars 13 seconds later and at the end of the second, it was 3-3.
Deering scored his seventh the year at 2:21 of the third period when he took a pass from Reid Morich and one-timed a shot past Yan Shostak with the Black Hawks one man short.
Jack Spicer had 25 saves for Waterloo and Shostak was credited with 36 stops for Lincoln.
Tri-City 4, USA Hockey NTDP 1
Tri-City received three points on a goal and two assists from Trevor Connelly and Cameron Korpi recorded 20 saves as Tri-City claimed a 4-1 home win over USA Hockey NTDP Friday.
Jake Rozzi scored for the Storm and Charlie Trethewey had a goal for USA Hockey NTDP in the opening period of the game.
Connelly got his 10th of the year at 1:01 of the second to make it a 2-1 Tri-City lead and after Philippe Blais-Savoie scored at 7:55, it was 3-1 after 20 minutes of action.
Vladislav Lukashevich's fifth goal of the year, which came at the 8:51 mark of the third, closed out the scoring in the game.
Tri-City upped its record to 14-11-1-2 with the win, while USA Hockey NTDP drops to 11-14-1-1.
Dubuque 8, Muskegon 2
Center Erik Pahlsson, who leads the USHL in scoring, had a pair of goals and assisted on three others as Dubuque rolled to an 8-2 home win over Muskegon Friday.
The Saints, who never trailed in the game, received goals from Pahlsson and Michael Barron in taking a 2-0 first-period lead.
David Klee responded for the Lumberjacks to open the scoring in the middle frame, but Dubuque replied on a goal by James Reeder and another from Pahlsson. Cody Croal's 12th goal of the season, which came on the power play at 15:43, pulled the Lumberjacks within twi and at the end of the second, the Dubuque held a 4-2 advantage.
The Fighting Saints pulled away with four unanswered goals in the final 20 minutes of action with Chase LaPinta, Teddy Merrill, Reeder and Charlie Arend doing the damage.
Dubuque, which leads the Eastern Conference standings with a 20-7-1-3 record, had a 25-save effort from James Norton in the win.
Sioux City 3, Madison 2
A late goal by Landen Gunderson helped deliver a 3-2 home win for Sioux City over Madison Friday night.
Following a scoreless first period, the host Musketeers took a 1-0 lead when Kaden Shahan scored his 20th goal of the season at 3:46. Madison's Austin Burnevik extended his goal-scoring streak to eight games when he tied the game with his 21st goal of the season at 12:36. Sioux City regained the lead on a Tate Pritchard marker at 17:23 and after 40 minutes of play, Sioux City held a one-goal lead.
Madison tied it on a Sam Rice goal at 5:40 of the third, but Gunderson put the Musketeers up for the last time when he tallied at 15:19.
Dylan Silverstein had 18 saves in a winning effort for Sioux City, while Carsen Musser had 27 stops for the Capitols.
