Frenzy represented at Rucker Park
August 24, 2006 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Cape Cod Frenzy News Release
Harlem, NY. The ABA Cape Cod Frenzy were well represented at the Entertainer's Basketball Classic (EBC) America tournament at the hallowed grounds of the famous New York's Rucker Park.
Three members of the Frenzy's summer pro league team were chosen to represent the team from Boston, sponsored by music producer Michael Bivins: 6'6 Rich Pittman, 6'10 Ifesinachi Anosike and 6'8 Scott Hazelton. Also on the team were two former Boston Frenzy players: point guard Wayne Turner and 6'6 G-F Keenan Small.
The Boston EBC America team played valiantly behind the efforts of guard Will Blalock (Detroit Pistons 2006 draft pick), Hazelton and Pittman. But their efforts to match a Seattle squad comprised of NBA players Nate Robinson (Knicks), Jamal Crawford (Knicks) and the #6 pick in the 2006 draft Brandon Roy (Trailblazers) weren't enough to advance Boston to the second round.
In the second round, former Boston Frenzy player and ABA All Star Alexus Foyle, helped a depleted Los Angeles team take Seattle to double overtime. The LA team dressed only five players and despite several chances to clinch the game, lost in the end. The Seattle team then fell in the Championship Game to a New York City team that featured NBA star Rafer Alson (aka Skip to My Lou), streetball legend and former ABA All Star and ABA Champion, Kareem Reid (aka the Best Kept Secret) and 15 year old prep phenom Lance Stephenson.
