ABA returns to Richmond, Virginia this season

Indianapolis, IN. The American Basketball Association (ABA) today announced that the league will return to Richmond, Virginia starting this November. According to Joe Newman, ABA CEO, "Richmond is a great basketball city and will be a great ABA city. We are pleased to be back there. We have a tremendous ownership group, very knowledgeable and experienced and we know that they will do a terrific job."

The majority owner and Chairperson is Ms. Ann Iverson, mother of NBA star Allen Iverson. Ms. Iverson, herself an athlete at Bethel High School in Hampton, VA is an avid sports fan. She was very excited about the prospect of owning a professional sports team and looks forward to the challenge of developing a winning team while providing entertainment to the fans in Richmond.

George Christopher, CEO of L'Impresa LLC, will serve as GM and minority owner of the team during its inaugural season. L'Impresa, LLC is a management firm that handles the business affairs of NBA, NFL and several high profile entertainment clients. Mr. Christopher is a graduate of the College of William & Mary and the Howard University School of Law.

Michael Davis will be Head Coach. He is currently Director of Basketball and Strength Coach at the U-Turn Sports Performance Academy. He will also serve as Director of Player Personnel. With over 10 years of coaching experience and having played at NCAA Division I Virginia Tech, he feels strongly that he can put together a competitive team. "The talent around here is awesome," said Coach Davis.
