
Freedom Swept by Lake Erie

The Freedom were swept by Lake Erie in a 6-1 loss on Thursday night in Avon, Ohio. The Crushers took all six games in the season series.
Brian Erie reached on an infield single with two out in the second. The next batter, Chris Luick, crushed a two-run homer to right to give the Crushers a 2-0 lead. The Freedom answered in the third. Cole Miles walked, moved to second on a groundout and stole third base. Chris Curley knocked him in with a single to center to pull the Freedom within 2-1.
Andrew Davis led off the sixth inning with a homer to right off of Lewis to increase the Crushers' lead to 3-1.
In the seventh, Chris Luick led off with a double but was retired at third on a fielder's choice. After Shults made a throwing error, Patrick Norris walked to load the bases. Braden Tullis came on in relief and gave up a sac fly to Davis to make it 4-1.
The Crushers added two runs in the eighth inning on a sac fly and an error.
Alec Lewis (2-5) threw 6 1/3 quality innings, allowing four runs (three earned), but suffered the loss. The homer by Luick in the second ended his scoreless streak at 15 2/3 innings.
The Freedom start a three-game weekend series against the Washington Wild Things on Friday night in Washington, Pa. Jeff Frost (0-5, 6.15) will be on the bump for the Freedom, with first pitch at 6:35.
