
Frederick Keys Bested by Williamsport Crosscutters, Lose Series Finale 9-1

Williamsport, PA - The Frederick Keys lost the series finale by a final score of 9-1 to the Williamsport Crosscutters on Thursday at Historic Bowman Field.
The Keys were outhit 7-6 in the game as Yareb Martinez was at the forefront of the Keys offense singling three times. Frederick sent right hander Kamron Fields to the mound for his first start of 2021.
Williamsport opened the scoring in the 1st, the only time in the three game series that the Crosscutters scored the first run. After reaching on a fielders choice, Dakota Kotowski stole second base. He was singled home to give Williamsport a 1-0 lead that they would not surrender.
It remained a 1-0 contest until the 5th inning, when Fields was pulled after walking the first batter he faced in the inning.
Francois Castillo came on for the Keys and in the inning did not allow a hit, but three runs crossed the plate. Castillo's struggles continued into the 6th inning as Williamsport scored five runs in the frame making it a 9-0 game at the time. In an inning and a third of work Castillo allowed five runs, four of them earned, and walked five batters.
Luis Guerrero made his first appearance out of the bullpen for the Keys coming in relief to get the final out of the 6th inning. Guerrero allowed all runners to score in the bases loaded jam that he inherited off of Castillo. Guerrero eventually settled in striking out five batters in two and a third innings of work.
Frederick's only run of the game came in the 8th inning. A two out double by Mason Auer gave Paul Komistek a chance to drive him in. Komistek followed with a double of his own, to avoid the third Keys shutout of the season.
Max Ryerson walked in his first at bat of the game, extending his on base streak to eight games now. Kevin Jimenez is still riding a season high six game hitting streak for the Keys after not playing in tonight's game.
