Quad City Mallards News Release
ST. CHARLES, Mo. (March 28, 2014) - Thomas Frazee ripped off his first career hat trick and added two assists to pile up five points as the Quad City Mallards defeated the host St. Charles Chill 7-3 Friday night. The win is the fifth place Mallards' (31-23-10, 72 points) second straight while the defeat is the ninth in a row for the last place Chill (11-48-6, 28 points).
The Mallards rebounded to pull away in the third period after St. Charles narrowed what had been a 4-0 Quad City lead to a single goal. Charles Lachance's power play tip-in got the Chill on the scoreboard for the first time with just 32.1 seconds left in the second. The Chill was again up a man when John Snowden's one timer from the blue line cut the margin to 4-2 at 3:09 of the third period. Britt Ouelette's rebound goal brought St. Charles within one at 5:15 of the third but Frazee completed his hat trick from the side of the net just 23 seconds later to stall the Chill's comeback bid. The Mallards went on to put the game away by scoring twice in 48 seconds. Mike Monfredo scored from the left wing circle at 11:45 and Justin Fox capped off the win by burying his second goal of the night on a breakaway at 12:33
It was Fox who had pounced on a rebound to open the scoring at 2:50 of the first period. The Mallards were on the power play when Frazee doubled the lead from close range at 7:08 of the first. Frazee struck again at 9:26, stretching the gap to 3-0 with a blast from the high slot. Vladimir Nikiforov extended the advantage to 4-0 by burying Frazee's centering pass at 6:56 of the second period.
