Arizona Sundogs News Release

Prescott Valley, AZ - The Central Hockey League (CHL) announced today, Arizona Sundogs' Andrew Engelage was named CHL Most Outstanding Goaltender of the Year (Scott Brower Award).

The award is presented annually to the CHL's most outstanding goaltender, in memory of Scott Brower, former CHL goaltender and team staff member. Voting was done by CHL head coaches, communications departments and selected media members in each market.

The Sundogs signed the 6-foot-5, Ontario native goalie as a free agent at the beginning of the season and have never looked back. Engelage continues to break franchise records including shutting out his opponents four times this season, the most by a Sundogs goalie. Three of those shutouts came back-to-back in early January. He also went on a five-game winning streak helping Arizona to a 9-0-2 record in January. Engelage has also tallied the most wins for a Sundogs goaltender with 28 thus far in the 2013-14 regular season.

Prior to joining the Arizona Sundogs this season Engelage played for two seasons for the Utah Grizzlies in the ECHL. In 2011-12 he collected 25 wins, three of those wins were shutouts. He had a 2.63 goals-against-average and a .911 save percentage. Last season he saw 17 games before his season was ended due to an injury and collected 9 wins with one shutout and a 2.83 goals-against-average and a .914 save percentage.

"Andrew has obviously been our back bone and our glue", expressed Head Coach, Kevin Colley. "He has earned every-bit of success through his hard work on and off the ice. It's impressive that with his mental toughness he has overcome our team's adversity at the start of the year."

Earlier this season Engelage became just the second CHL goalie to record three consecutive shutouts as his scoreless minute streak of 227:22 sits as the second longest in league history. During the months of January and February, Engelage was nearly unbeatable posting a 14-3-4 record allowing two goals or fewer in 13 of those 21 games.
