Windsor Express News Release
(BRAMPTON, ON) A 43 point fourth quarter was not enough to pull Windsor out of trouble, as the Express fell 113-109 to the Brampton A's at the Powerade Centre on Tuesday night.
The Express (13-5) never got off the ground in the first half, scoring only 34 points at the break and trailing by 13 to the hometown A's.
After outscoring Windsor 31-22 in the second quarter, Brampton (10-10) took a 34-32 advantage in the third, bringing their lead to 81-66 heading into the final frame.
But for the second straight game, Windsor guard, Ryan Anderson slowed his opponent's momentum, by putting on a shooting clinic, dropping 14 of his team high 20 points in the fourth and at one point pulling the Express within two points.
However, Akeem Scott made two Brampton free throws to bring the A's lead up to 113-109 and Anderson and Jamarcus Ellis could not convert on three point attempts in the last few seconds, to send Windsor to their third road loss in the last four games away from the WFCU Centre.
DeAndre Thomas also had 20 points for the Express, Gary Gibson had a team high 7 rebounds and Tony Bennett rounded out the offensive leaders with six assists.
The win lifted Brampton to an even record for the first time this season, while Windsor's lead in the Central Conference slipped to 2.5 games over the idle Lightning and four games ahead of the A's.
Windsor will have work to do this weekend to improve their 3-5 road record, as they head out east, starting with a game in Charlottetown, PEI against the Island Storm on Friday, January 16th.
They follow that with a game at Harbour Station in Saint John against the Mill Rats on Saturday, January 17th and close out the trip on Sunday afternoon visiting the Moncton Miracles.
Windsor's next home game is Wednesday, January 21th when the Express and Halifax Rainmen set up for "Clash at the Colosseum II" at Caesars Windsor.
