Mississippi Braves News Release
Pearl, MS - The Atlanta Braves announced Friday that OF Jeff Francoeur and OF Matt Diaz have been assigned to AA Mississippi. Francoeur was optioned to Mississippi, while Diaz will be in Mississippi to start his Major League rehab assignment. Both players will be in Mississippi tonight and throughout the upcoming four-game homestand.
Francoeur met with General Manager Frank Wren, Assistant General Manager Bruce Manno and Manager Bobby Cox, as well as members of the coaching staff, to discuss the move. It was discussed with Jeff that this move will allow him to get at-bats in a less-pressurized environment.
Francoeur will re-join the major league club following the upcoming All-Star break (July 14-17).
Diaz has been out since May 28 with a posterior cruciate ligament strain in his left knee.
