Fresno FC News Release

CARSON, Calif. - Fresno's struggles continued in Southern California as the Foxes fell 2-0 to LA Galaxy II on a warm and muggy Thursday evening at the StubHub Center Track and Field Stadium.

Los Dos's Frank Lopez opened the scoring at the 50th minute on a counter-attack and again found himself in a 3-v-2 at the 72nd minute to complete his brace.

Down 1-0, the Foxes saw their best chance at an equalizer miss by inches as Christian Chaney's bicycle kick took an unlucky bounce off the left post.

Chaney, who entered as a substitute for Rony Argueta at the 56th minute, had another strong chance at the 80th minute but his header to the bottom right corner was pushed away goalkeeper Justin Vom Steeg to keep the Foxes off the board.

That was until two minutes into stoppage time when the Foxes won a free kick that Juan Pablo Caffa delivered to a leaping Chaney, who put away the header for the score. The goal was Chaney's fifth of the season while Caffa notched his fourth assist.

The remaining three of stoppage time, unfortunately, was not enough for Fresno FC, who dropped their second game in a row.

The Foxes (7W-9L-9D, 30 points) sit in 10th place and finish their four-match road swing with just two points - both coming in draws against OKC Energy FC and Tulsa Roughnecks FC before consecutive losses at Sacramento Republic FC and LA Galaxy II. Fresno now returns to Chukchansi Park, where it will host Saint Louis FC (7-6-9, 29 points) on Saturday, Aug. 14.

EL MEXICANO MAN OF THE MATCH: ZACH ELLIS-HAYDEN, D

Ellis-Hayden completed 93.9% of 49 total passes for the Foxes, including 96.4% in LA Galaxy II's half, while also recording two shots and four key passes.
