Four Titans Named to All-Star Team

July 20, 2015 - Futures Collegiate Baseball League (FCBL)
Torrington Titans News Release

The Futures Collegiate Baseball League has reached their All-Star break. The game itself will be held on Tuesday night at Fraser Field in Lynn, Massachusetts, home of the league's North Shore Navigators.

Some familiar faces will take the field as four members of the Titans were selected to represent the west division in the game.

Robbie Hitt (Quinnipiac) was the lone Titans pitcher selected after posting a 1.51 ERA over the first 40 games of the season. David Gerics (Pomona-Pitzer) was in the running for the fan vote, but fell short in the end of getting the final spot.

The Titans had three position players selected for the All-Star team as well. Catcher Cody Doyle (Sacred Heart) was the first name announced in the All-Star selection show held by the league. He is hitting .284 in 20 games played for the Titans this summer. Outfielder Dan Schock (Sacred Heart) was named to the team after joining the Titans on July 3 and putting up impressive numbers. Dean Lockery (CCSU) was the final Titans All-Star selection and was named to the team by a final commissioner's selection. Lockery has been hot for the Titans of late and is currently hitting .316 in 133 at-bats this summer.

The All-Star festivities will kick-off tomorrow at noon as both the east and west teams will assemble for team pictures and warm-ups. The day will feature a scout's day, where other select players will showcase their talents as well as a homerun derby, where four select hitters will battle it out. The day will be capped off by the 4th FCBL All-Star game with a first pitch scheduled for 7:00 p.m.

The Titans are currently 36 games into their season and stand at 17-19 heading into the All-Star break. They play next on Thursday at Martha's Vineyard.
