Lynn, MA - Four members of the Vermont Mountaineers played for the Western Division All-Stars as they fell 3-1 to the Eastern Division All-Stars in the New England Collegiate Baseball League All-Star Game at Fraser Field in Lynn, Mass. on Wednesday night.

Third baseman Greg Bachman, first baseman Rob Griffith, pitchers Kyle Grana and Matt Whitehouse all took part in the league showcase that saw the dominant pitching of the East outmatch the hard hitting of the West. Griffith was a late edition to the roster while the other three were voted in by the league coaches.

Bachman (Germantown, TN/Austin Peay) pinch hit for Mystic's Brett Doran and replaced him at third base. The junior was 0-1 in his only at bat but was perfect in the field. Meanwhile Griffith (Ronkonkoma, NY/Sacred Heart) went 0-2 after pinch hitting for Holyoke's Trey Mancini and taking over at first base.

Vermont's pitchers showed their might in the final three innings as Whitehouse (Diamond Bar, CA/UC Irvine) pitched a perfect seventh inning striking out one batter. Grana (St. Louis, MO/Bellarmine) would then toss two consecutive scoreless innings striking out three. He was the only Western Division pitcher to fan more than one batter.

The East scored two runs in the bottom half of the third taking a 2-0 lead before giving a run back in the top of the fifth. However, they would add on another insurance run in the home half that would result in the final score. Sanford's AJ Bazdanes got the win tossing a perfect third inning while Danbury's Nick Williams took the loss for the West. New Bedford's Sam Dodge picked up the save for the Eastern Division with a scoreless ninth.

Vermont (22-14) is back in action on Thursday July 28th as they travel to Laconia, New Hampshire to take on the Muskrats at 6:30 p.m. You can hear all the action live on ESPN 1240, WSKI and online at www.thevermontmountaineers.com.
