Four Majors Players Drafted to NHL

Mississauga ON - The Mississauga St. Michael's Majors saw a total of four players selected at the 2009 NHL Entry Draft this weekend. Casey Cizikas, Brett Flemming, Mike Pelech and Kyle Neuber were all chosen on the second day of the two-day selection process.

Cizikas was selected in the 4th Round (92nd overall) by the New York Islanders. The 5'11", 184 lbs. forward collected 18 goals and 23 assists for 41 points in 62 games played during his rookie season in 2007-08. This past year the Mississauga native recorded 16 goals and 20 goals for 36 points. In 11 playoff games he contributed 5 goals and 4 assists for 9 points. Cizikas was a member of Canada's Under-18 team at the 2008 Memorial of Ivan Hlinka Tournament in Slovakia, and represented Team Ontario at the 2007 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.

Flemming, a native of Burlington, Ontario, was selected in the 5th Round (145th overall) by the Washington Capitals. The 5'11", 172 lbs. defenceman picked up a goal and a total of 10 points in his first year with the Majors in 2007-08. This past season he produced 3 goals and 25 assists for 28 points in 64 games played. Then, in 10 playoff games, Flemming contributed a goal and 3 assists for 4 points. He also participated in the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge with Team Ontario in 2007.

Pelech, a Toronto, Ontario native, was taken in the 6th Round (156th overall) by the Los Angeles Kings. The 6'2", 212 lb. forward spent the past three season with the Majors after he was acquired from the Kitchener Rangers at the start of 2006-07. The 19 year-old collected a career-high 65 points (19 goals and 46 assists) in 68 games played in 2008-09 and a total of 13 points during the playoffs.

Neuber was selected in the 7th Round (197th overall) by the Colombus Blue Jackets. The 6'2", 215 lbs. right-winger produced 9 goals and 3 assists for 12 points in 59 games played, and logged a total of 135 penalty minutes this past year. The 19 year-old hails from Sarnia, Ontario.
