Long Beach quickly got on the scoreboard in the top of the first inning with Dan Trumble singling, stealing second base, and scoring on a Ryan Lehr double. Norm Hutchins followed by blasting a two run homerun for the 3-1 lead.

The Vipers mounted a two-out rally for a run in the bottom of the second inning thanks to the two Calgary natives as Drader doubled and Colin Moro singled for the run batted in.

Following Andy Wilson and Lehr singles to leadoff the top of the third inning Hutchins crushed his second long ball of the game for the 6-1 advantage.

Drader launched his fifth homerun of the year to start the scoring in the bottom of the fourth inning. Moro followed with a walk, Jorge Mejia reached on a fielder's choice, Darryl Brinkley singled, and Miller blasted his 11th big fly of the season to cut the deficit down to one run at 6-5.

Right back came the Armada in the top of the fifth inning with a solo homerun off the bat of Lehr. Three two-out singles by Octavio Martinez, David Ramirez, and Stephen Yoo plated another run for Long Beach and the 8-5 lead.

Hutchins was back at it in the top of the seventh with his third homerun on the night for the 9-5 advantage.

Patrick Arlis nailed his fifth long ball of the season in the bottom of the eighth to close the lead to 9-6.
