Orange County Flyers News Release

The Orange County Flyers struggles this season have been limited to Desert Sun Stadium in Yuma and that continued Friday night. The Scorpions (16-15) scored two runs in the bottom of the 9th and beat the Flyers on a walk-off squeeze bunt by Rich Janeway.

Yuma strung four singles together off of Dane De La Rosa (1-2) in the 9th inning to tie and win the game. Pete Farina came through with the game-tying hit to plate pinch runner Yosvany Almario, who stole two bases.

SP Jeremy Zick pitched outstanding baseball into the 7th inning giving up just four hits and two runs. Eric Sheridan provided scoreless relief with the help of some great defense by SS Gabe Mayorga.

Pat Breen crushed his 13th homerun of the season to give the Flyers (21-7) a 3-1 lead in the 3rd inning.

Andre Simpson will look to stay perfect on the season Saturday night at 7 p.m. from Yuma.
