Four Kings Named All-Stars

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - The Champion City Kings will be well represented in this year's Prospect League All-Star Game that will take place July 8 in Terre Haute, Ind. Four Kings have been voted to the East Division team.

Chris Perkovich was named the starter at third base. The infielder from Saginaw Valley State University is hitting .316 for the Kings, ranking him seventh in the Prospect League in batting average. Perkovich has played 12 games at third, 11 at shortstop, and one at first base.

Jake Bennett will start for the East Division in right field, where he has spent most of the season for the Kings. Bennett, from Western Nevada College, is hitting .337, sixth in the Prospect League. He also ranks fourth in total bases (49) and fourth in triples (4).

Catcher Brent Hermanussen will start the All-Star Game behind the plate as the West Division's catcher. The backstop from New Mexico State University leads the Kings in home runs and runs batted in.

Ryan Shockey, a pitcher from Bluefield college, has been named a reserve pitcher for the West Division. Shockey has been the most-used reliever for the Kings this summer, appearing in 12 games.The right-hander is 1-1 with an ERA of 1.65. Shockey has also collected a pair of saves this season.
