Champion City Kings News Release
SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - The Champion City Kings are revealing one player from the 2015 roster each Friday this offseason. This week, the Kings present right-handed pitcher Trent Armstrong from Arkansas Tech University (NCAA DII, Great American Conference), who will join the club for the upcoming season, which will begin May 27 against the Richmond RiverRats at Carleton Davidson Stadium.
"Trent is a very reliable pitcher for his school," said Kings Manager Chris Perkovich. "Last year, with a 7-1 record and a 2.54 ERA, he was one of the top starters and will be again this year."
Armstrong pitched in 18 games during his freshman year with Arkansas Tech in 2014. Through 56 2/3 innings, the Waxahachie, Texas native struck out 37 batters and walked only 11.
"Trent is the type of pitcher I love, he poinds the zone and gets outs," said Perkovich. "Trent will come in and make a big impact on our pitching staff this summer."
"Trent has the potential to have a very good summer in Springfield and I can't wait to see what he can bring."
Armstrong is one of three pitchers from Arkansas Tech that will pitch for the Kings this summer.
The Kings begin the 2015 season at home Wednesday, May 27 against the Richmond RiverRats at 7:05 p.m. Season ticket and advertising information is available by contacting General Manager Rick White via email at rwhite@championcitykings.com or by calling the team at (937) 342-0320.
