Four Goal Third Hammers Caps

Geneva, IL -A four-goal third period proved to be the difference maker in a 7-4 victory for the Chicago Steel over the Madison Capitols at Fox Valley Ice Arena on Saturday night.

Liam Devlinopened the scoring for the Steel with his 2ndof the season on a backdoor feed from John Jaworski, beating Simon Latkoczyfor the 1-0 lead.

Reid Pabich evened the score after a beautiful spin-and-fire pass from Carson Bantleat the end line. Pabich split two defenders to obtain the puck and fire one past Victor Ostmanfor the 1-1 tie before Tyler Carpenterregained a one-goal lead for Chicago on a power play.

Fortunately, it was Pabich who did it again, picking up his 2ndgoal of the contest to tie the game with 28 seconds remaining in the first period. Pabich pickpocketed the Steel defender and wrapped the puck around the post and between the legs of Ostman for his 5thgoal of the season.

Madison gained their first lead of the night only 30 seconds into the second period when Hunter Weisslaunched a puck down the ice to find Ricky Lyleon a breakaway for the 3-2 lead. Carson Bantle made his resurgence to the scoring sheet for the first time since November 3rdto double the lead to 4-3 only 2:14 into the middle frame.

Chicago took control from there on out, netting five unanswered goals from five different scorers to come away victorious for the 4thstraight game over the Capitols.

Latkoczy made 21 saves on 27 attempts in the loss, while the power play went scoreless in 5 attempts. The penalty kill finished the night 5-for-6 as well.

The Capitols return to action on Wednesday, November 27thwhen the team heads to Green Bay to take on the Gamblers for round 2 of the Klondike Cheese Cup. There will be no Capitols broadcast on Wednesday, but there will be Saturday when the Caps return to action in Madison for a Canned Food Drive in support of Middleton Outreach Ministry.
