Four Assigned, Training Camp Roster Announced

The Elmira Jackals announced Friday that they have been assigned forwards Ryan Hillier and Tomas Zaborsky, defenseman Eric Regan, and goaltender Marco Cousineau by their NHL affiliate, the Anaheim Ducks. The Jackals also released their 21-player training camp roster with the team's first practice of 2010-2011 taking place earlier today.

Hillier begins his third professional season having spent the majority of his first two with the Charlotte Checkers, then of the ECHL. Hillier had 26 points (10g-26a) in his rookie season of 2008-2009 with the Checkers and then split 2009-2010 with the Checkers, the AHL's Hartford Wolfpack, and the ECHL's Wheeling Nailers, totaling seven points (2g-3a) in 26 games before his season was shortened due to injury.

The Halifax, Nova Scotia native was in the top three of the QMJHL's Halifax Mooseheads in scoring in his final three seasons with the club prior to turning pro, totaling 190 points (86g-104) in 229 games. Hillier was drafted 84th overall by the New York Rangers in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.

Zaborsky spent 2009-2010 in Finland playing with Assat in the Finnish elite league, SM-liiga, and was fourth on the team in scoring with 26 points (9g-17a). The Banska Bystrica, Slovakia product notched 31 points (15g-16a) combined with the Checkers, Dayton Bombers (ECHL), and the Wolfpack in his rookie season of 2008-2009.

Prior to his professional days, Zaborsky spent two seasons with the OHL's Saginaw Spirit, scoring 113 points (50g-63a) in two seasons. He was drafted 137th overall by the Rangers in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.

Regan was second in the ECHL in scoring among defensemen in 2009-2010 with 50 points (16g-34a) with the Bakersfield Condors in 59 games, earning him All-ECHL First Team honors. Regan also participated in five games with the AHL's San Antonio Rampage last season.

The Whitby, Ontario native spent all of the 2008-2009 season with the AHL's Iowa Chops, totaling eight points (1g-7a) in his rookie campaign. Regan played four seasons of junior hockey, skating with the OHL's Erie Otters and Oshawa Generals. With the Generals in 2007-2008, he posted eight goals and 40 assists for 48 points, second-best among the team's blue liners.

Cousineau, a St. Lazare, Quebec native, enters his rookie season having helped lead the QMJHL's Saint John Sea Dogs to the league's championship round, where the Sea Dogs fell to the Moncton Wildcats. In 20 regular-season games with Saint John last season, Cousineau went 15-5-0 with a .914 save percentage and a 2.36 goals-against average.

Drafted 83rd overall in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft by the Ducks, Cousineau played the first portion of 2009-2010 with the Quebec League's Prince Edward Island Rocket, posting a .908 save percentage along with a 3.20 goals-against average and a 10-14-0 record.

Cousineau played with the Drummondville Voltigeurs and the Baie-Comeau Drakkar in 2008-2009. He spent his first two junior seasons of 2006-2007 and 2007-2008 with Baie-Comeau.
