Forward Shawn Skelly Acquired by the Ice Flyers

PENSACOLA, Fla. (August 30, 2013) - The Pensacola Ice Flyers have completed another trade as they continue to build their roster and attempt to defend their 2013 SPHL President's Cup Championship. Forward Shawn Skelly has been acquired from the Peoria Rivermen in exchange for forward Ryan Raven.
"Shawn has been a top-line, producing player in the SPHL who will add skill and depth to our top forward lines," coach Rod Aldoff commented. "He brings a highly offensive element to his game every night and we look forward to him putting up big minutes and big numbers for us this season."
Skelly is a native of Wolverine Lake, Michigan. He is 5' 10", weighs 187 lbs. and shoots right. He split least season between Mississippi Surge and the Augusta RiverHawks in the SPHL as well as the Alaska Aces and the Bakersfield Condors in the ECHL.
In 31 SPHL games last season, Skelly had 30 points (17 goals, 13 assists), 28 penalty minutes, and an even plus/minus rating. While playing in the ECHL, Skelly appeared in 21 games putting up 16 points (7 goals, 9 assists), 6 penalty minutes, and a +12 rating.
As a rookie in 2011-12, Shawn played 52 games with the Mississippi Surge and put up 46 points (20 goals, 26 assists), 32 penalty minutes, and a +20 rating.
Prior to turning pro, Skelly played four seasons with the NCAA Division III Adrian College Bulldogs. In 113 games, Skelly put up 229 points (102 goals, 127 assists) and 220 penalty minutes. Skelly's numbers are good enough for school records in goals, assists, points, power play goals, game-winning goals, and shots on goal.
