Forward Madison Signs Defender Jacob Crull

Forward Madison FC has signed 25-year-old defender Jacob Crull, pending league and federation approval. The Austrian native has just finished his third season in the USL League One after impressive stints with both Union Omaha and FC Tucson. The defender will look to make an immediate impact on the 'Mingos' backline upon arrival.

Head Coach Matt Glaeser is elated about the signing of Crull. "He's a very good left-sided player, who can play a couple of different positions across the backline. He's very professional in how he approaches the game and he's a solid player in our league," Glaeser said.

Crull began playing youth soccer with the Indiana Fire before playing collegiately at Spring Arbor University. With the Cougars, Crull made 83 appearances over three seasons, playing as both a left-back and a left-winger. Crull accumulated 23 goals and 50 assists while he earned two-time NAIA All-American honors in consecutive seasons. After finishing up at Spring Arbor, Crull joined the Charlotte Eagles in the USL League Two from 2018-2019.

By the beginning of 2020, Crull signed with USL League One newcomer Union Omaha. Crull made 34 appearances over two seasons with Omaha and helped his squad earn their first USL League One Cup in 2021. Crull then transferred to FC Tucson for a season, where he played in every match, tallied two goals and ranked third on team in chances created (23).

Now with FMFC, Crull is excited to build something special in 2023. "I'm excited to see the passionate community that backs the team and supports them well." I'm ready to develop as an individual player, and grow a team-first culture in Madison," Crull said.
