Full time Recap:
North Texas takes an early lead perhaps deserving of their clean play, but Forward Madison plays well on the counter attack to stay level with the league leaders. With Arturo Rodriguez in the left corner, he was able to find Ronaldo Damus, who scored a hat trick in their last match, who launched a powerful header off the turf past Brian Sylvestre's left side. Unlike our last match, more fouls have been called that haven't yielded further punishment, but have kept the ball with the visitors. Despite not fielding a full-strength lineup with Golden Boot leader Ricardo Pepi back in Frisco after signing a Homegrown contract with FC Dallas, and just three players on the bench, and assistant coach Michel Garbini Periera starting in midfield, North Texas was able to control possession through another Homegrown in Thomas Roberts and standout Arturo Rodriguez.
However, the Flamingos weren't going to quit just yet, with the bottom-table side moving quickly through the middle thanks to a returning Josiel Nunez, who's hard low shot forced a rebound off goalie Carlos Avilez for Don Smart, who pounced on the ball to level the score. In perhaps the first favorable forecast of the summer, FMFC showed a more composed play style as they worked out from the back to break the press, and utilized the confidence of J.C. Banks, who showed off his moves on multiple occasions to keep his team in the danger area. In one of the more even contests at home, Forward Madison put up more shots on goal than in previous matches and took advantage of referee Luis Arroyo's forgiving mediation, with fouls called often without yellow cards being issued, and no stoppage time given.
As the second half came around, both teams started off to the races with a possession often swinging from end to end. North Texas came close with a set piece taken by Michel Garbini Pereira in the 62nd minute, and when forcing Brian Sylvestre into a last-ditch sliding save in the 63rd minute. That was the end of the efforts for the visitors, as Don Smart took the lead after Brandon Eaton set up the Jamiacanto smash a high shot after a perfect through ball. After more great playmaking by Josiel Nunez, Don Smart set up the Panamanian, who did the rest with a beautiful step over in the 78th minute to blast a low shot past Carlos Avilez at his near post, right in front of the Flock End Supporters.
The Flamingos continued to fly to the finish line with J.C. Banks scoring his second goal of the season on a smooth drive past the 'keeper, who saw his team caught out at midfield and Jeff Michaud send Banks in on goal in the 84th minute. To finish off a magical night, Danny Tenorio subbed on in the 86th minute for his first action of the season after recovering from a torn meniscus, and the rest was history as the Flamingos climbed to seventh in the table.
