August 23, 2013 - ECHL (ECHL)
South Carolina Stingrays News Release
North Charleston, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays and Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Spencer Carbery announced today that the team has agreed to terms with forward Chris Langkow. In keeping with club policy, details of the agreement were not disclosed.
Acquired in a trade with the Reading Royals in early November last season, Langkow, 24, buried a career-high 37 points (18 goals, 19 assists) in 46 games with the Stingrays and added three assists in four Kelly Cup Playoff contests. In nine games with the Royals, the Vegreville, Alberta, native netted two goals and two assists for four points.
"Chris is coming off his best pro year offensively and we're looking for him to build off that," said Carbery. "He has won a championship at our level and gives us a great two-way centerman that can play in all situations."
Over a three-year professional career, Langkow totaled 87 points (38 goals, 49 assists) in 127 ECHL contests with the Alaska Aces, Reading and South Carolina and helped the Aces capture the Kelly Cup in 2011. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound forward has also seen action in the American Hockey League with the Peoria Rivermen and Bridgeport Sound Tigers adding eight points (two goals, six assists) in 15 games.
