FORT WAYNE, IN (February 16, 2012) - The Erie BayHawks finished with six players in double-digits as they defeated the Fort Wayne Mad Ants 113-106.
The Mad Ants came out of the gates running as they quickly went up 7-0 in the first minutes of the game. Erie quickly countered the attack and stole the lead halfway through the period. Mychel Thompson scored 13 first period points to give the BayHawks a 37-30 lead.
The BayHawks maintained a 7 point lead through the second period and led 60-53 going into the locker rooms at the half.
The Mad Ants outscored the BayHawks 33-27 in the third behind 15 points from Cameron Jones. They trailed 87-86 going into the final twelve minutes of the game.
D.J. Kennedy hit back to back 3 pointers to give the BayHawks the boost that they needed to extend their lead to double figures giving them their largest lead of the game of 11. The Mad Ants could not counter the hot shooting of the BayHawks and fell for their 6th game in a row.
Kennedy finished with 28 points and Thompson with 21. Tirrell Baines finished with 18 off the bench for the BayHawks.
Darnell Lazare led the way for the Mad Ants with 28 points while Ron Howard added 20 off of the bench and Jones contributed 19.
