PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - Jhoan Duran struck out 11 in the first relief appearance of his career, but the Fort Myers Miracle were held to three hits in a 2-0 loss to the Charlotte Stone Crabs on Tuesday night at Charlotte Sports Park.
Duran relieved Adalberto Mejia, after the rehabbing left-hander tossed a scoreless first inning. Duran (1-6) suffered the loss despite allowing just one run on two hits in five innings. He walked three.
Trevor Larnach recorded two of the three hits of the night for Fort Myers. After Larnach's one-out double in the fourth, Charlotte pitching retired 16 straight batters before Lewin Diaz singled with two outs in the ninth.
The Stone Crabs plated a run in the second on a Thomas Milone single before adding an insurance run in the seventh on a two-out single off the bat of Carl Chester. Chester was thrown out trying to turn the single into a double on a tremendous throw by left fielder Trey Cabbage.
The teams will play a doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon in Fort Myers. Game one starts at 4:30 p.m.
