Daytona Tortugas News Release

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Thanks to a three-run first inning and a masterful pitching performance by RHP Nolan Kingham, the Florida Fire Frogs blanked the Daytona Tortugas, 4-0, in front of 1,884 fans at Jackie Robinson Ballpark on Tuesday night.

Florida (1-1, 26-42) came out of the gates with hot bats. In the top of the first, SS Riley Delgado (4-4, R, 2B) picked up a one-out single to right and DH Trey Harris (2-5, R, HR, 2 RBI, SO) followed by smashing a deep drive to left field. The blast sailed over the fence for a two-run home run - his first in the Florida State League - to put the Fire Frogs ahead 2-0.

Two batters later, 1B Drew Lugbauer (2-4, R, 2B, HR, RBI, BB, SO) rifled the first offering he saw to dead center. The University of Michigan alum's shot landed between the fence and the batter's eye for a solo dinger - his seventh of the campaign - to extend Florida's advantage to 3-0.

In the fourth, the visitor's struck again. 3B Kevin Josephina (2-4, R, 2B, SO) banged a one-out double off the wall in right-center to start the attack. Later in the frame, 2B Jordan Rodgers (2-4, RBI, SO) poked a ground ball through the left side of the infield for a base-hit. Josephina scored on the single to give Florida a 4-0 edge.

Daytona's (1-1, 36-31) offense could not muster much throughout the night. Kingham (9.0 IP, 3 H, BB, 7 SO) retired the final 15 batters he faced and kept the Tortugas without a hit from the fourth inning on to collect his third complete game shutout of the season and his fourth victory.

LHP Wennington Romero (5.0 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 7 SO) bounced back after a rocky first inning, finishing the night with a season-best seven punchouts. The 21-year-old, however, was saddled with his first defeat of the year.

Daytona will look to capture the series in Wednesday's rubber match, as RHP Mac Sceroler (3-1, 3.89 ERA) is slated to get the ball in the finale. LHP Philip Pfeifer (1-3, 4.35 ERA) is projected to take the mound for Florida.

The Tortugas Pre-Game Show will kick off the broadcast at 10:20 a.m. ET, leading up to the 10:35 a.m. ET start at Jackie Robinson Ballpark. Wednesday morning's game can be heard on www.daytonatortugas.com or via the TuneIn Radio and MiLB First Pitch apps.

It will be a Summer Splash Camp Day at the ballpark on Wednesday. Jackie Robinson Ballpark will be converted into a fun-zone and waterpark - with inflatables, water slides, and plenty of activities - for local summer camp attendees and all those at the stadium.

Multi-game plans and single-game tickets are still currently available and can be purchased online at www.daytonatortugas.com, or by calling the Tortugas' Ticket Office at (386) 257-3172.
