Forney Reassigned From AHL Chicago

The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that forward Michael Forney has been reassigned to the team from its American Hockey League affiliate Chicago Wolves. Forney, a 21-year-old Thief River Falls, Minnesota native, went scoreless and finished with a -1 plus/minus rating in two games with the Wolves in his first trip to the AHL.

Forney has appeared in 47 games with the Gladiators this season, recording seven goals and nine assists for 16 points and 36 penalty minutes. A 6-foot-2, 185-pound rookie, Forney was selected by the Atlanta Thrashers in the third round with the 80th overall pick in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.

Forney registered 60 points in 59 junior games last season with the Green Bay Gamblers of the United States Hockey League. He led the team in all offensive categories (goals, assists, points) and ranked ninth in the league in overall scoring. He also appeared in 19 games over two seasons with the University of North Dakota from 2006-07 to 2007-08, recording two assists. He will be available for this morning's game at the Kalamazoo Wings.

The Gladiators continue their 7th season in the ECHL Wednesday, February 24th @ Kalamazoo at 10:30 a.m. The Gladiators are the AA affiliate of the Atlanta Thrashers and Columbus Blue Jackets and play all home games at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.
