Wichita Thunder News Release

WICHITA, KS- The Wichita Thunder lost 4-1 to the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs on Sunday evening at the Kansas COliseum. Former Thunder forward Joe Blaznek scored a goal and an assist, while fellow former Thunder teammate Travis Clayton chipped in two assists.

Trailing 1-0 in the second, Joel Hanson redirected a shot from Brad Thompson into the net to tie the game at the 3:11 mark. With less than 14 seconds left in the period however, Mark Johnson one-timed a close shot past Krister Toews to put the Mudbugs back in front.

With the Thunder still trailing by one, Curtiss Patrick was called for handling the puck, giving the Bugs a power play. Head Coach Brent Bilodeau argued the call with referee Kevin Graber, and was eventually ejected with a game misconduct. When play resumed, the Bugs scored on the man advantage, when Tyrel Lucas scored on another close range shot at 13:27. Former Thunder defenseman Todd Paul made it 4-1 with a goal at 17:49.

Krister Toews took the loss, as the Thunder saw its three-game winning streak come to an end. Toews stopped 31 of 35. The loss was also Wichita's ninth straight to Bossier in the regular season. Former Thunder goaltender Jon Horrell earned the win, saving 18 of 19.
