In 2005-06, he was selected to the First All-Star Team and was named the winner of the Mike Bossy Trophy, given to the league's best professional prospect.

A native of Hull, Quebec, Brassard was selected by Columbus in the first round, sixth overall, in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.

The Crunch open their 16th AHL season on Saturday, October 3 in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. Syracuse opens up at home the following weekend when they face Adirondack on Saturday, October 10.
