Malone was skating with Colorado's top affiliate, the Lake Erie Monsters of the American Hockey League (AHL) in Cleveland, Ohio. Malone is fifth on the team in scoring with 13 points (4g, 9a) in 24 games before getting called up. Brad's cousin, Ryan Malone, plays for the Tampa Bay Lightning.

He tallied four points in the playoffs, including the overtime game-winner against Tri-City that put the Herd into the USHL Final Four in Waterloo.

Malone went on to play four seasons at the University of North Dakota before signing with the Avalanche and the end of last season.

The Stampede return to action tonight when they host the Lincoln Stars at 7:05 PM at the Sioux Falls Arena.
