Utah Blaze News Release
SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah Blaze have placed wide receiver Delric Ellington on the active roster, the team announced Tuesday. The Blaze claimed Ellington off of reassignment from Spokane Spokane after he parted ways with the team nine days ago. Ellington participated in training camp with Spokane, but was placed on injured reserve at the start of the regular season.
"Delric Ellington has been on our radar for some time," said President & Head Coach Ron James. "He's the kind of big, physical receiver that can be very successful in this offense. We're really looking forward to seeing what he can do as we prepare for Jacksonville."
Ellington (6-4, 220, Wingate) enjoyed an outstanding collegiate career at Division II Wingate University. As a senior in 2010, he earned All-South Atlantic Conference second-team accolades and was an All-Super Region 2 third-team selection by Don Hansen's Football Gazette. Ellington paced the Bulldogs with the most productive campaign of his career in his final season, as he registered 82 receptions for 1,077 yards and 10 touchdowns.
