SAN JOSE, Calif. - The SaberCats announced today that they were assigned former Iowa Barnstormers kicker Nick Pertuit.

"Nick has an accurate leg," said Owner/Head Coach Darren Arbet. "He has experience in this league and we expect good things from him with this football team."

Pertuit (6-0, 195, UIW) played last season for the Iowa Barnstormers of the AFL where he went 53-of-64 on his extra point attempts (83%) and 6-of-11 in field goal attempts. Before playing with the Barnstormers Pertuit played two seasons (2009-10) in the Southern Indoor Football League (SIFL) with the Abilene Ruff Riders, going a combined 60-of-71 on extra points and was the team's second leading scorer in 2009.

The Billings, Mont. native attended the University of Incarnate Word (UIW) in San Antonio, where he played soccer and received both a B.S. in Physical Education, as well as a Master of Science in Kinesiology. During his time at UIW he was a four-year starter and served as team captain in both his junior and senior seasons. Pertuit was also an all-conference and all-region player at UIW, and twice was nominated for the Cardinals' Student-Athlete of the Year award.
