Traverse City Beach Bums News Release
TRAVERSE CITY, Mich.-- The Traverse City Beach Bums made a significant addition to the middle of their lineup today, signing veteran outfielder and former Rays prospect JT Hall.
Hall, 25, is a six-year minor league veteran, and played most recently with the Montgomery Biscuits of the class double-A Southern League. The Rays selected Hall in the 41st round draft pick of the 2004 MLB Draft out of Southwest Missouri Community College at the age of 20, and in 2006 by the age of 22 he was already one of the best players in the class single-A Midwest League. For the 2006 season, he hit.274 in 116 games with 30 doubles, four triples, eight home runs and 62 RBI. Hall was promoted to class high-A Vero Beach in 2007 and responded by hitting.272 in 103 games with 18 doubles, 11 home runs, and 40 RBI. Hall returned to Vero Beach for the first half of 2008, where he made the All-Star Team and won the Home Run Derby before being promoted to class double-A Montgomery to finish the season. The 6'3" 210-lb left-handed hitter played a full season in double-A in 2009 and hit.221 with 14 doubles, three triples, 7 home runs and 32 RBI. A corner outfielder with good speed, Hall has accumulated 27 stolen bases and 17 triples in his career.
"Hall is an impact bat that the opposing manager will have to account for in the lineup," said Beach Bums Director of Baseball Operations Jason Wuerfel. "He is the type of hitter that can change the face of a game just by his presence in the on-deck circle. He is a dynamic athlete we're thrilled to add him to the roster."
The Traverse City Beach Bums are entering their fifth season of play in 2010, with the home opener scheduled for Friday, May 28th versus the Oakland County Cruisers. The Beach Bums will play 54 of their 96 games at home in 2010. Season tickets are now on sale -- please phone 231-943-0100.
