Long Island Ducks News Release

(Central Islip, N.Y.) - The Long Island Ducks today announced the signing of left-handed pitcher David Roseboom. The southpaw begins his first season with the Ducks, second in the Atlantic League and seventh in professional baseball.

"I'm extremely honored and excited to put on the black and orange," said Roseboom. "I'm very thankful that the Ducks are taking me on for the 2020 season and look forward to helping them defend the Atlantic League championship."

Roseboom's rights were acquired by the Ducks on November 6 after being selected in the first round of the New Britain Bees Player Dispersal Draft. He made 15 appearances (12 starts) with the Bees in 2019, compiling a 4-3 record with a 3.63 ERA, one complete game and shutout, and 68 strikeouts to 23 walks over 67 innings. The 27-year-old allowed three runs or less in eight of his final nine starts, turning in a 3.15 ERA and 58 strikeouts to 19 walks in that span. Roseboom held left-handed hitters to a miniscule .208 batting average, and he was especially strong on the road, posting a 2.49 ERA in seven games (five starts) away from home.

Prior to joining New Britain, the Pattersonville, N.Y., native pitched for six seasons in the New York Mets organization. He reached as high as Triple-A, doing so in three consecutive seasons (2017-19). Over 183 games in the Mets system, the 6-foot-3 lefty accrued a 3.60 ERA, 28 saves and 239 strikeouts to 89 walks in 227.1 innings. He earned a pair of Mid-Season All-Star selections as well, claiming the honor in the South Atlantic League with Savannah in 2015 and the Eastern League with Binghamton in 2018. Roseboom was originally selected by the Mets in the 17th round of the 2014 amateur draft from the University of South Carolina Upstate.

The Long Island Ducks are members of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball and play their home games at Bethpage Ballpark. For further information, call (631) 940-DUCK or visit www.liducks.com.
