Muskegon Lumberjacks News Release

MUSKEGON, MI- Former Lumberjack Jordan Timmons netted three straight goals, propelling the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders past the Muskegon Lumberjacks 4-2 on Saturday at LC Walker Arena.

Muskegon got a goal from Matej Pekar to open the scoring 5:39 into the game. They would hold that 1-0 lead until the second period, when the Riders got the equalizer from Liam Walsh.

Pekar's goal was assisted by Anthony Del Gaizo, his USHL-leading 62nd point of the season, and 89th point of his career. Del Gaizo is now tied with Lumberjack great Rem Pitlick for fourth on the Jacks' all-time scoring list.

Late in the second, Vincent de Mey slapped home a rebound with only 2:07 left to regain the lead 2-1, but Timmons netted his first of the night 22 seconds later to re-tie the game.

In the third, Muskegon outshot Cedar Rapids 10-8, but weren't able to beat goaltender Jiri Patera, who was remarkable for the second-straight night between the pipes.

Timmons would provide all the offense Cedar Rapids would need, capitalizing on a odd-man rush to give the RoughRiders a 3-2 lead with 11:52 to play, and then adding an empty-net goal in the final minute.

Muskegon goalie Keegan Karki fell to 21-14-0, making 26 saves on 29 shots.

The Jacks' magic number to clinch a playoff bid is still nine, and they will have an opportunity to whittle that down next weekend in Madison. Muskegon must finish the season by playing six of their final eight on the road.

Friday night's puck drop is scheduled for 8:05pm EST, while Saturday's is slated for 7:05pm EST. Both games will be aired on 92.5 Nash Icon and HockeyTV.com.

Muskegon goals: Pekar (12), de Mey (17)

Muskegon assists: Mikael Hakkarainen (25), A. Del Gaizo (26), Bray Crowder (12), Marc Del Gaizo (25)
