Former Knighthawk inducted into US Lacrosse Hall of Fame

(Rochester, NY)... Former Rochester Knighthawks player and Assistant Coach Tom Emmick will be inducted into the US Lacrosse Hall of Fame Greater Rochester Chapter. The annual Hall of Fame Induction Dinner will be held at the Burgundy Basin Inn on Friday, November 14th from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m. Tickets are available for $35.00 and can be pre-purchased by logging onto www.uslacrosserochester.org or purchased that evening at the door. This year, Emmick will be inducted along with former Penfield Head Coach Mark Rice, former Canandaigua Academy & current St. John Fisher Head Coach John Johnson, and current East Rochester girls lacrosse coach Linda Michele.

Emmick played for the Knighthawks in the franchise's inaugural season in 1995. He played four seasons in Rochester and helped the team win their first championship in 1997. Prior to playing with the Knighthawks, he played for the Buffalo Bandits and won two championships. After he hung up his jersey, he became an assistant coach in 1999.

Rice spent 32 years coaching the game of lacrosse with 20 of those at the varsity level. Mark was named coach of the year four times over the span of his coaching career. His most recent accolade was being named the 2008 US Lacrosse Man of the Year.

Johnson spent the majority of his career coaching the Braves of Canandaigua Academy. He put together an outstanding record of 387-169. He decided to head to the next level when he accepted his current position of head coach of the St. John Fisher men's lacrosse team.

Michele has built one of the elite girls' programs in the state with the East Rochester Bombers. East Rochester plays deep into the postseason year after year behind the tutelage of Michele. In her 12 years with the program, she has a record of 146-85, two Monroe County Championships, four Section V Championships, and three time New York State Finalists. Michele has also been the Empire State Games Western Coach four times, USL National Youth Festival Rochester Coach, as well as the Lady Roc Girls Elite Lacrosse Club Director and Coach.
