Former Kicker Ferruzzi Joins FC Dallas Coaching Staff

RICHMOND, VA – (Monday, January 31, 2005) – FC Dallas of Major League Soccer recently announced the addition of former Kicker Marco Ferruzzi to the coaching staff as an assistant to Head Coach Colin Clarke for the 2005 season.

Ferruzzi, a University of North Carolina graduate, appeared in 120 games with the Kickers over four seasons (1999-2002) and recorded 17 goals and eight assists for 42 points. He served as the team's captain as the Kickers reached the A-League finals in 2002 and was selected Supporter's Choice MVP and Player's Choice MVP that year. While with Richmond, Ferruzzi played two seasons under current FC Dallas Head Coach Colin Clarke. Marco was also active in coaching with the Richmond Kickers Youth Soccer Club as a coach of a youth premier team as well as a Super Y-League team.

Selected sixth overall in the 1997 MLS Supplemental Draft by the Tampa Bay Mutiny, Ferruzzi appeared in 19 games with the Mutiny and tallied two assists. Prior to joining the Kickers, he spent the 1998 season with the Charleston Battery and was responsible for two goals and five assists for nine points. The 5'9" midfielder and San Antonio, Texas native played the past two seasons with the Minnesota Thunder.

"Marco is someone who I know very well as he played for me with the Richmond Kickers of the A-League," comments FC Dallas Head Coach Colin Clarke. "He is a fresh face who comes in hungry, ambitious and eager to teach his soccer knowledge to our players. He is fluent in Spanish and is originally from San Antonio. We are very happy to have him join our coaching staff."
