
Former Cutters Manager Morandini Joins Phillies Coaching Staff

Former Williamsport Crosscutters manager Mickey Morandini has been named the Philadelphia Phillies first base coach. Morandini managed the Cutters to a record of 43-33 in 2011.
A member of the Phillies player development staff for the past five seasons (2011-15), Morandini spent three years as a manager and the last two as a coach.
Morandini, 49, played 11 seasons in the major leagues for the Phillies (1990-97; 2000), Chicago Cubs (1998-99) and Toronto Blue Jays (2000). He finished with a .268 batting average, 209 doubles, 54 triples and 123 stolen bases. An All-Star second baseman in 1995, Morandini played for the 1993 National League champion Phillies.
The Phillies 2016 major league coaching staff is as follows: Larry Bowa (bench/infield), Steve Henderson (hitting), Rick Kranitz (bullpen), Bob McClure (pitching), John McLaren (catching), Morandini and Juan Samuel (third base/outfield). Assistant coach and former Cutters hitting coach Jorge Velandia will return to his role as special assistant, player personnel.
