
Former Conquest QB Named To AFL All-Rookie Team

ALBANY, NY - The Albany Conquest announced today that former Conquest quarterback D. Bryant has been named to the 2008 Arena Football League All-Rookie Team.
Bryant, 27, posted solid numbers in first inaugural AFL season, completing 215-of-336 passes for 2,340 yards, 40 touchdowns and a 101.8 QB Rating in 10 games played for the Kansas City Brigade. The Michigan native also finished tied for sixth in the AFL in rushing touchdowns (12) and eighth in the league in rushing yards (149) accomplished on 43 carries. Bryant, who played college football and basketball for Duke University, averaged 3.5 yards per carry with the Brigade, but Kansas City finished the 2008 regular season with a 3-13 record.
Bryant played two seasons for the Conquest, 2004 and 2005, where he played in a total of 29 games, throwing 574-of-986 for 7,183 passing yards, 133 touchdowns and a career 58.2% completion percentage. He also piled up 104 rushing attempts for 285 yards, 20 touchdowns and averaged 2.7 yards per carry. Bryant holds a share in two Albany single-game franchise records, passing touchdowns (8) and rushing TDs (3); he is the only Albany quarterback to throw for eight passing touchdowns in three different games.
The 2008 AFL playoffs begin this weekend with four games broadcast nationally on ESPN and ESPN2. On Friday (June 27) the Wildcard Round gets underway as the No. 3 seed Dallas Desperados (12-4) host Brown's Dragons (8-8), the No. 6 seed. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN. The winners of the four Wild Card games will advance to the Divisional Round of the playoffs. Virgin Mobile ArenaBowl XXII New Orleans will be played at New Orleans Arena on Sunday, July 27 at 3 p.m. ET (ESPN on ABC; ABC HD).

The Conquest are on the road in Week 14 for a crucial East Division match up against the Manchester Wolves. Kick off is scheduled for 7:30 pm on Friday, June 27th at Verizon Wireless Arena in New Hampshire, where Albany beat Manchester 66-62 on April 18th in Week 4. Albany's next home game is not until Week 17 as they host Manchester for a 7:00 pm kick off on Friday, July 18th at the Times Union Center.
