
Former Colonie Grad Returns to Conquest

ALBANY, NY - The Albany Conquest announced today that wide receiver R.J. Harvey has been assigned to the Conquest by the af2 and the former Colonie Central High grad will be in the lineup for Friday's game against Daytona Beach.
Harvey, 25, is entering his third season in arenafootball2, having made his pro debut with the Conquest during the 2006 season. In his rookie season with the Conquest, Harvey had six receptions for 164 yards and four touchdowns in five games played; he also tallied 3.5 tackles (2 solo, 3 assisted) and one pass break-up. In 2007 Harvey played for the Fort Wayne Fusion of af2, playing in the team's first four games before suffering a season-ending injury. In Fort Wayne he posted 10 receptions for 102 yards and 1 touchdown, while also returning 18 kickoffs for 479 yards, including two kickoff return TDs.
Harvey compiled 1,555 rushing yards and 21 TDs in three seasons with the University of New Hampshire, while leading the Wildcats with 840 yards and 14 TDs during his junior season in 2003. That year he was also the Atlantic 10 leader in scoring (96 points), scoring TDs (16), while earning Co-Atlantic 10 Player of the week for his career-best performance against Hofstra (173 rushing yards and four TD's).
Harvey was a three-sport athlete at Colonie Central High School (football, basketball, track), rushing for over 4,000 yards and 65 touchdowns in his high school career, Two-time all-state and all-area selection played in the Section 2 Senior Bowl and Governor's Bowl during his senior campaign. The Raiders won the Suburban Council championship in 1999, while his father played with the Seattle Seahawks and his brother played basketball at Siena College.
The Conquest are preparing for a Week 13 rematch with the expansion Daytona Beach ThunderBirds on Friday, June 20th at the Times Union Center. Albany lost to Daytona Beach 62-53 on May 8th in Florida; it was their first ever meeting. Friday's game is scheduled for a 7:00 pm kickoff at the Times Union Center.
