Florida Firecats Fall to Third in American Conference Playoff Standings

Estero, FL- After two straight losses, the Florida Firecats have slipped to third place in the American Conference in the playoff standings the arenafootball2 (af2) league office announced this week.

Florida is coming off a 42-32 loss at South Georgia last Saturday night. As a result, both Florida and Green Bay have 8-3 records, a game behind the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers. But the Blizzard own a better winning percentage in games against common opponents. The Firecats are one of three South Division teams in the top five of the conference standings. South Georgia and Tennessee Valley own the fourth and fifth positions respectively.

Eight teams in each conference qualify for the af2 playoffs, with games being played at the highest seed. The conference winners will square off in the ArenaCup, the championship game of af2, which will be held at the venue of the participating team with the best overall record. The Firecats hosted the ArenaCup in 2004, the year the team won its only af2 championship.
