Greenville Swamp Rabbits News Release
Greenville, SC - The Greenville Road Warriors, proud ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers and the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack, are excited to announce NFL quarterback and former Clemson Tiger standout, Tajh Boyd, will attend the team's "Superhero Night" on Friday, April 3rd at 7:00 p.m. Boyd will be available to meet fans and sign autographs during the first intermission outside of Section 117 on the Bon Secours Wellness Arena concourse.
In addition, $3 off every red-level ticket purchased through a special Road Warriors fundraiser will go back to the Tajh Boyd Foundation.
Boyd is currently under contract with the NFL's Pittsburgh Steelers. He was selected in the sixth round of the 2014 NFL Draft by the New York Jets following a record-setting career at Clemson University. The 24-year old was the Tigers' starting quarterback from 2011 through 2014, where he set school and conference records for passing yards (11,904) and passing touchdowns (107). Boyd is currently the all-time leader in both categories.
As a senior in 2013, Boyd led Clemson to an 11-2 record and helped win the 2014 Orange Bowl versus Ohio State. En route to the Orange Bowl title, the Hampton, Virginia native passed for 378 yards and five touchdowns while also contributing 127 rushing yards and a touchdown on the ground. Boyd's performance set an Orange Bowl record for total yards in a contest.
The Tajh Boyd Foundation was created in January to assist underprivileged, troubled and at-risk youth in the community, and to help change their lives by showing kids they have more options to help make better choices. The foundation aims to strengthen today's youth by promoting good decision making and strives to make this a better state one generation at a time.
